Ok it's taking some time but i'm getting there. Next could somebody tell me what these little yellow dots are and why they don't go away please? Anything I need to worry about? The duplicate doesn't seem to have them though.

Next Maya Help
I separated the selected faces but not every little bit is a separate object, was that suppose to happen and if so how can I make the window just one object?
@Jon
It selects some other edges in the model too
I did try selecting just the correct edges separately but that still wouldn't work, i'm guessing thats something to do with the other connecting edges that highlight when double clicking?

Maya Help Please
Ok after saying everything is going fine.... how do I separate the selected section as a separate object?
Also, the bottom middle window won't fill hole on this attempt, but it would let me on the previous one....
Maya Update
Ok I emailed my file to Jon to see if he could figure out why the edges wouldn't let me extrude but as I haven't had a reply yet i'm guessing sleep was necessary :) so I decided to start again from stage 2 to see if it was something I did in the making. I made it again and it wouldn't let me extrude so like I tried with the previous attempt I tried to fill hole and push the face in, this didn't work with the last go but it did with this one. Is this method alright or will it have repercussions? It seems to be working....

Maya Help Please
Usually I'd spend ages trying to troubleshoot things before I just ask but as its last minute (i'll still be up most of the night anyway) I thought i'd ask. Any idea why the window won't let me Extrude?

Maya Week 7- Friday 5th November
I've completed the task for week 7, the house now has windows.
I was curious afterward as to how the house would look smoothed so I pressed 3 and a cool round homely figure 'happened'. I think this is a good inspiration for a concept art house design :) especially as a Dream Works/ Paramount style character home.

Essay Research- 1
I'm researching into the timeline and available resources of space imagery during the making of:
Stanley Kubrick was renowned for his attention to detail. I had seen this film before but I had also recently watched it as a celebration at the BFI London where there was a live orchestra playing along with the film. It was quite an experience. His wife spoke of thousands and thousands of boxes of research he had collected and stacked in every place around his estate. This really gave a sense of how he was able to give so much detail within his films.
I have read about some methods and processes tested during the making of this film, for example:
'Stanley Kubrick worked for several months with effects technicians to come up with a convincing effect for the floating pen in the shuttle sequence. After trying many different techniques, without success, Kubrick decided to simply use a pen that was taped to a sheet of glass and suspended in front of the camera. In fact, the shuttle attendant can be seen to "pull" the pen off the glass when she takes hold of it.' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062622/trivia?tr0748352)
This film was released in april 1968, although there had been many experiments with people and animals going into space, the photos that had been sent back to earth were that of the surfaces of the moon and mars, the first full photographs of the earth were not taken until the Apollo 8 mission, containing the first people to leave earth's orbit and pass the moon. This was 8 months after the release of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Idea four: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dir. Stanley Kubrick, 1968

How did the crew of this film gather enough information to be so accurate about their interpretation of space and the earth from space?
Description (Hall of Bright Carvings) Refined
I made a mind map of the text I had highlighted already and refined the highlighting to just layout description.
Essay Question Idea- Part 2 (@ Phil)
I've been thinking about my previous post and the suggestions I made within it, and have come up with an idea.
Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey was way before it's time, I'd like to find out how they went about gathering the resources and making the decisions about how things up in space would look, such as the earth, as the first full images of the earth were not taken until 8 months after the film was released.

Simple 1 point perspective example
I found a very simple 'how to' video on youtube for drawing a 1 point perspective image.
I drew the guidelines in pencil, then scanned the image in and drew over selected lines in photoshop then removed the guide lines.

Now I can apply these simple methods to create a more elaborate example.
