Maya Advice Please

Is there an easy way I could make a hole through this? For example for a bolt to go through it....

  1. One thing is why you need the hole?? when you see a bolt the head is always bigger than the hole, so basically you will never see it. in CG you dont need to build exactly the chair it is many ways to fake a bolt placed on it. also if the chair is going to see from some angle where the bolt will be seen on the back, just elongate the the screw geometry, so it is visible in both sides.
Usually bolts which are not so noticeable are even done in texturing.

Dont worry if the 2 geometry penetrate, it works just fine.!!

  2. Use the cut faces tool to make squares, then delete the square which is supposed to be your hole and there u go! If u want a round hole just press 2 or 3 on the keyboard to make the square hole smoother. Hope I helped :) x

  4. I would say i texture with a nice bum would so it, how close from the camera is going to be that the wheel chair.

Also Andriana option can work if you are to smooth the whole object in the end if not it will just look like a square... for that purpose you would have to create the square and and add extra 4 edge loops to easily create a circle shape.

In my opinion to save time and less hassle, I do think with a black hole texture, and a nice bump in there it will give the illusion of a hole...
